Volley ball and Soccer Sports Camp....Service is our goal

People of Peru Project is planning a sports camp for poor children in Iquitos June 11-21 What a fantastic opportunity to interact and inspire kids who have had no opportunities. We are looking for Christian Athletes to join us as we build a team of people who care about kids. During this 2 week camp we will work with children through the medium of athletics to learn as much about life skills, leadership, honesty, dedication to our goals, and spiritual growth as we do about soccer and volley ball.

I am thrilled to tell you that Former two-time all-Pacific 10 Conference selection Lindsey Dion, will be joining us on this project. Her proven leadership as a high school and college all star, coach and professional basketball player will add a dynamic to this sports camp that will set a high standard for future endeavors.

Below are excerpts from an article in the Sacramento State Media Guide.

Dion, who is the granddaughter of former longtime Fresno State football coach Jim Sweeney, starred four years at Oregon as a student-athlete. She finished her career with two Pac-10 championships in 108 career games. She was named all-conference as a junior and senior, and academic all-conference during her final three seasons. She was team captain her final 2 seasons.

In Dion’s four-year career, the Ducks were 35-11 with her in the starting lineup and reached the NCAA Tournament all four seasons. As a junior, she played with a torn lateral meniscus in her left knee for most of the year and still managed to start 23 games.

Following her senior season, she was given the Jackson Award, which annually recognizes Oregon's top female student-athlete. She graduated from Oregon in 2002 with a bachelors degree in educational studies.  Dion, traveled overseas to Switzerland and Greece where she competed against professional teams, with the Christian organization, Athlete's in Action.

Dion graduated from Fresno's Clovis West High School, Dion was also named league MVP, Fresno Bee Player of the Year, Clovis West Athlete of the Year and was the schools student body president as a senior.

Lindsey is currently living in Fresno, CA working in the education system as an Activities Director at a Jr. High school and after school spends time personal training high school student athletes at a functional sport performance training facility in northeast Fresno.
